Tour:   Introducing Venezuela

This two week tour is designed to encompass some of the highlights of this diverse country, taking in the vast wetlands of the Orinoco Delta, a flight over the Angel Falls, the wildlife of Los Llanos and the Andes at Merida.

This itinerary starts in Caracas with a night at the Mariott. From here travel to Canaima for a flight over the Angel Falls, the highest waterfall in the world. These were discovered by accident in the 1930s when gold prospector Jimmy Angel crashed his plane. We spend 3 nights at an attractive jungle camp in Canaima National Park. Return to Caracas to overnight before continuing to Merida, which has a spectacular backdrop of snow-capped Andean peaks known as the ‘Five White Eagles’.

The following day we descend to the open flat savannah of Los Llanos with accommodation at the splendid Hato Garza. Honey bears, ocelots, jaguars, capybaras, alligators and 300 species of birds (including the Scarlet Ibis) have been sighted here. We then return to Caracas at the end of the itinerary.
