Tour: Introducing Costa Rica

This popular two week itinerary gives a great introduction to the natural beauty of Costa Rica. The tour includes wildlife spotting, volcanoes, cloudforest and a few days relaxing on the north Pacific coast.

Our tour starts off with two nights in San Jose at the enchanting Finca Rosa Blanca Inn. Then transfer to Tortuguero National Park staying for 2 nights at the Mawamba Lodge with full board. The varied habitats here include tropical rainforest, mangroves, wetlands and traditional coastal environments. The best way to spot the alligators, iguanas, howler monkeys, boa constrictors and the myriad of bird life is to quietly explore the waterways and canals by small boat. From July to October you may see the giant green turtles come ashore at night to lay their eggs.

Move on to Arenal to see the volcano, which here has been continually erupting for nearly 40 years! We arrange a 2 night stay here for greater chances of seeing the lava flows on a clear night.

From Arenal we drive to the Monteverde Cloud Forest, a bewitching place of emerald green foliage surrounded by whirling mists, perched on the edge of the Tilaran mountains. Explore the nature trails before driving up the Pacific coast for a few days relaxation at the wonderful Hotel Punta Islita. It is a superb luxury retreat perched on a hill side on the Nicoya Peninsula, surrounded by mountains overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It has a dramatic hilltop pool, stylish architecture and spectacular views, one of the most romantic hideaways in the country. Finally we arrange for you to fly back to San Jose for your last night.
