If you are seeking sun and excellent beaches with a Brazilian twist, spend 7 blissful nights on the eastern coast at Natal.
Fly from the UK into Natal via Lisbon then transfer to the Manary Praia Hotel, a small and charming property on Ponta Negra
beach.
It has a Spanish hacienda style with wooden beams, red-tiled roofs and large cool flagstones.
Its location is ideal and all 25 rooms have wide balconies with hammocks and views either of the ocean or the gardens and are
airconditioned with TV and minibar. The restaurant is good, specialising in local seafood and there is a separate
bar. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool and separate children's pool, a solarium and a games room. Guests can relax in
the tropical gardens, which include a waterfall and ornamental carp pool.
The village of Ponta Negra has a range of restaurants, bars, shops and handicraft stores.
It is vibrant and attractive, with a car-free promenade, and its long beach is good for surfing at one end
whilst its southern area is calmer and suitable for swimming. There's plenty to do in the area, including dune buggy hire,
if you fancy whizzing along the open sands or a visit to the local prehistoric rock drawings.
