Lake Titicaca

At an altitide of 3800m, Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the world. It's electric blue waters are a spectacular site against the bright, clear sky with the snow-capped Andes in between.

The Taquile Islands and Islands of the Sun and Moon are among the many islands on the lake that can be visited, home to some of Peru's oldest peoples where traditional beliefs and ways of life still predominate.   


The first trip described below takes you by train from Cuzco to Puno, on the shores of Lake Titicaca, from which you can visit the islands. The second can be taken as an add-on, continuing on from Puno to La Paz, Bolivia, by crossing the lake.

  Cuzco to Puno by Train with Lake Titicaca Excursion:  3 days /2 nights:

Day 1:	Take a scenic train journey from Cuzco to Puno on the shores of Lake Titicaca, (train runs Mon, Wed and Sat.) Stay at the Hotel Libertador Esteves, the best hotel in the area with impressive views over the lake.
Day 2:	Enjoy Lake Titicaca and take an excursion to the Taquile or Amantani islands.
Day 3:	Either transfer to nearby airport or we can transport you on to La Paz in Bolivia (this part is not included in price, see "Puno to La Paz" package below).

  Lake Titicaca Crossing - Puno to La Paz: in a Day or Overnight

The spectacular journey from Puno (in Peru) to La Paz (in Bolivia) can be done in a day by catamaran or you can savour the experience by spending the night on Sun Island (Isla del Sol), on Lake Titicaca.

Start the trip in Puno and travel by bus to Copacabana, then take the catamaran to the Isla del Sol with a tour of the island. Continue on to Huatajata, then by bus to La Paz.

Lake Titicaca Crossing- 2 nights by Hydrofoil from Puno to La Paz

Take two days to make the scenic lake crossing from Peru to Bolivia:

Day 1	Hydrofoil from Puno to Copacabana, including a visit to the floating Uros Islands, Sun Island (Isla del Sol), Templo Lodge and a short Llama Trek. Overnight at the Posada del Inca Lodge on Sun Island.
Day 2:	Visit the Inca Road and Fuente Sagrada. Hydrofoil to Moon Island, Tiquina and Huatajata. Night visit to the Kallawaya Shaman. Overnight at Inca Utama Hotel at Huatajata.
Day 3:	Bus from Huatajata to La Paz.
