Ometepe Island

Isla de Ometepe (or Ometepe Island) is a highlight of any trip to Nicaragua. It is the largest freshwater island in the world and with its two volcanoes sits magestically in the south-west corner of Lake Nicaragua.

Our trip offers you a two night stay on the island and begins with a guided excursion around the active Concepcion Volcano to meet with indigenous artisans and a visit to the town of Altagracia. Also included are hiking in the cloudforest of the Maderas Volcano, a full time bi-lingual guide and private ground transfers. Accommodation is at the Hotel Villa Paraiso, a simple lodge located above the Santo Domingo beach on the isthmus between the two volcanoes. A wonderful setting, the lodge is peaceful with lake views, bird watching and good food. Breakfast and dinner are included.
