Palenque
Palenque has perhaps the most beautiful collection of pre-Colombian
structures in Latin America.
This Mayan site nestles on a narrow shelf, amidst tropical jungle
vegetation. The Palace and the Temple of the Inscriptions are particularly
well-preserved. The nearest airport to the region is at Villahermosa, 2 and a half hours away.
