Little-known Guyana is a tropical wilderness just waiting to be explored. Three mighty rivers, the Demarara, the Berdice and the Essequibo form the gateways into the pristine rainforest, a veritable haven of wildlife.
As well as egg-laying turtles, Giant River Otters and Black Caimen, Guyana is home to scarlet, yellow and blue macaws, toucans and, best of all, the Harpy Eagle.
Sir Walter Raleigh came in search of El Dorado here, Evelyn Waugh and Gerald Durrell both wrote about the country, Col. John Blashford-Snell delivered a grand piano to a remote indigenous community (and later went back with a piano tuner) and Mount Roraima, on the border with Venezuela inspired Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to write "The Lost World." South American Experience would be delighted to arrange an itinerary for you.
