The Mayan Highlands
For a stunningly beautiful and scenic contrast to the rainforest area of Tikal you cannot go wrong by visiting the amazing colonial city of Antigua and the spectacular lake and volcanic area of Lake Atitlan. The Guatemalan highlands also introduce the traveller to the traditional beliefs and customs of the Maya people as well as their amazing textiles and handicrafts seen in the colourful market towns.
Antigua, Lake Atitlan and Chichicastenango Market
| Day 1: | Transfer from Guatemala City to your hotel in Antigua. Overnight and breakfast. |
| Day 2: | Guided City tour (3-4 hours). Rest of day free to explore Antigua. Overnight and breakfast. |
| Day 3: | Transfer to Lake Atitlan (approx. 3 hours). Overnight at hotel and breakfast. |
| Day 4: | Boat trip on Lake Atitlan and guided tour of Santiago village with lunch (3-4 hours). Free afternoon. Overnight and breakfast. |
| Day 5: | Visit the market of Chichicastenango, (market days are Sundays and Thursdays). PM return to Antigua. Overnight and breakfast. |
| Day 6: | Transfer back to Guatemala City. |
