Airport information
Mount Pleasant airport on East Falkland is approximately a one hour drive from Stanley, the capital of the Falkland Islands. This airport is a military facility that handles both military and the few commercial flights to the islands. Due to it being a military zone photography of any kind is prohibited.
Climate
As in the UK, all four seasons can be experienced on the same day so you should pack clothes with a degree of flexibility. Weather is similar to spring time in the coastal areas of southern England. The islands are relatively sunny, a good sun screen is needed as the air is clear and unpolluted and the marine winds can be strong. Weather can also be cloudy and humid and rain occurs on more than half the days of the year, average annual rainfall is 24 inches in Stanley. Take a good wind-proof jacket or anorak with hood or hat and a stout pair of walking boots.
