Guardalavaca
On the north coast of the Holguin province lie stretches of lovely white sandy beaches, including Playa Esmeralda,
Playa Costa Verde and naturally the Guardalavaca beach. Just over two hours' flight from Havana will get you to Holguin,
and then it's a couple of hours by road to Guardalavaca. It's the perfect place to unwind and has never rivalled the
popularity of Varadero or attracted its masses, though it's beaches are as idyllic.
Away from the beaches, nearby at Chorro de Maita you find one of the most important Caribbean burial grounds and at Banes,
a very fine Indo-Cuban Museum.
