A variety of schemes to assassinate Fidel Castro have
been concocted over the years, including exploding cigars, a toxic
dose of LSD, a milkshake laced with cyanide and contaminating his
wet-suit with tuberculosis.
Perhaps the most ludicrous plan was the idea of putting chemicals
on his shoes to make his beard fall out. Castro himself has said that
if survival of an assassination attempt were an Olympic event he would
certainly have won the gold medal.
The suggestion that Castro's Cuba poses any sort of threat to the
United States (or anywhere else, for that matter) is absurd but for
the last 43 years the US has maintained a painful trade embargo on
Cuba.
