Rincon de la Vieja National Park

The "Rincon de la Vieja" National Park, in the Guanacaste region, is a stretch of increasingly rare dry tropical forest and one of the country's most thermally active regions due to the live volcano from which the Park takes its name.

The terrain includes bubbling mud pots, steaming vents rising out of lush foliage and a whole host of wildlife, making it an enchanting area for walking, riding or climbing.

We recommend staying at a new retreat, the Borinquen Mountain Resort and Spa. Accommodation is in extremely comfortable bungalows set in stunning landscape at the skirts of the volcano. The resort has its own mudpools and sauna and excursions include visits to ancient petroglyphs, walking in the National Park and trips to waterfalls.
