Founded in 1538, the capital offers more than its reputation might suggest with cosmopolitan restaurants,
excellent museums and a well preserved colonial quarter, it's an eclectic mix of the old and new.
The Spanish colonial district of Candelaria has flower covered courtyards and fine architecture.
The nation's most famous museum is the renowned Gold Museum, each corridor displays a different episode
from Colombian history and the ground floor is dedicated to art. The Monserrate mountain,
accessible by cable car, offers spectacular views of the city and the underground Salt Cathedral
is another highlight.
In the northern districts of Zona Rosa and Usaquen, one finds a variety of excellent restaurants, nightlife, parks and
shopping centres.
