Santa Rita Vineyard
The Santa Rita vineyard was founded in 1880 and is located about an hour and a half from Santiago.
Enjoy a stay at the Casa Real Hotel, part of the Santa Rita vineyard estate, a small, elegant
hotel in a grand Italian style, dating back to 1883, it is set in 70 acres of beautifully maintained gardens.
It has just 16 rooms with original features and two swimming pools, tennis courts and gym. There is an excellent
restaurant and ample opportunity for wine tasting. Where better to stay to learn about Chilean wines?
Vines were first planted for the production of wine in Chile around 1550, shortly after Pedro de Valdivia had
conquered the territory in the name of the King of Spain.
Chile was therefore producing wine more than a century before South Africa and some 200 years before California.
