Brazil Amazon

Tour: Highlights of Brazil

This two week itinerary starts with a few days in Rio de Janeiro where excursions to Suglarloaf Mountain and Corcovado are included. From here fly to the magnificent Iguassu Falls which border Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay, for a two night stay, before flying to Manaus, gateway to the Amazon.

For most of us, a trip to Brazil is not complete without a visit to the mighty Amazon. It contains the largest area of tropical forest in the world, covering 2.3 million square miles, 60% of which is in Brazil. A boat ride from Manaus will take you to the Amazon Eco Park Lodge, which whilst easily accessible from Manaus is rich in fauna. It is located on the shores of the Amazon with its own private river beach and is part of the Amazon Primates Rehabilitation Centre, particularly known for its monkeys. From here you will explore the Brazilian rainforest with all guided excursions included, for example jungle walks, bird watching, night time canoe rides, alligator spotting and fishing tours.

Finally you fly to the vibrant city of Salvador de Bahia in the north east, famous for its colonial architecture and history. It has African, Brazilian and Portuguese influences visable in its culture, food and music. Stay at the atmospheric Convento do Carmo, a converted 16th century convent.
