One of the most remote and unusual areas in South America, the Bolivian salt lake of Uyuni and surrounding area is a fascinating region. The scenery is breathtaking with the vivid blue sky constrasting against the blinding white salt crust.
Travel from La Paz to Oruro by bus then on to Uyuni by train where you arrive late and spend the night in this windswept railway town. Starting early the next day for a full day visit to the salt-desert you get a sense of the enormity and isolation of the region and also visit Tahua, San Cristobal and the cactus studded "Isla Pescado", an oasis where you find unique flora and fauna completely isolated for thousands of years. Return to Uyuni for your last night before returning to La Paz by bus on day 3.
It is also possible to visit the Salt Flats from Potosi, please call us for details.
