Dangriga

Down the coast and accessible by dirt road is the the pleasant town of Dangriga. It is relatively unspoilt by tourism and it has the advantage over the Cayes of being on the mainland at a point where the barrier reef is accessable for a day’s diving.

A little further down the coast is the small Garifuna town of Hopkins. This town has a relaxed atmosphere and lovely location with quiet beaches and citrus plantations which will provide a superb insight into the Afro-Caribbean legacy.

Pelican Beach Resort
The Pelican Beach Resort is a perfect base to explore both the rainforests and jaguar reserves of the Cockscomb Basin or the coral reefs of the Southern Belize Barrier Reef. Located right on Pelican Beach, 2 km north of Dangriga, the Lodge is a 10 minute walk into town. The food is good and the dining room features a large marine aquarium.
