Antarctica Tours

The most pristine wilderness on Earth is an ice continent that will astound you with its spectacular beauty and unforgettable wildlife, one of the most remote and fascinating natural reserves in the world. Just 600 miles south of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica is surely the ultimate destination for wildlife enthusiasts. Large rookeries of penguins rub shoulders with seal colonies whilst whales ply the icy offshore waters. Follow in the path of the great explorers of the past and marvel at the enormous icebergs, towering glaciers and shimmering austral summer light.

We offer a variety of ships that cruise the two traditional Antarctic itineraries, the Classic Antarctic Peninsula and taking you further afield to more remote regions, Shackleton's Quest. In addition we are pleased to include two more unusual options, the Antarctica Air Cruise and the unique Emperor Penguin Safari. We would be delighted to help you select the boat and itinerary that best suits your requirements and sense of adventure, each option offering a diverse way to experience the White Continent.

All the operators mentioned on these Antarctica pages are members of "IAATO", the International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators, a global network of tour operators working together voluntarily to promote safe and environmentally responsible private-sector travel to Antarctica.

The Classic Antarctic Peninsula Cruise takes you to the Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands.
The Antarctica Air Cruise is perfect for those with less than sturdy sea legs. This new option means avoiding Drake's Passage by flying from Chile to pick up the Classic Peninsula Cruise in the South Shetland Islands.
Shackleton's Quest is the longest cruise, visiting the Antarctic Peninsula, the fascinating Falkland Islands and the stunning beauty of South Georgia, following in the footsteps of Polar exporer Sir Ernest Shackleton.
The Emperor Penguin Safari is a new and exciting tour to the little visited Emperor Penguin Rookery on Snow Hill Island. It is a rare opportunity for wildlife lovers to observe these fascinating creatures.

  • The long summer days from November to March are the only time of year when weather conditions allow such a journey.
  • Antarctica is a land of extremes and all the voyages listed in these pages have carefully planned itineraries. However, weather conditions may make it necessary to amend these itineraries at short notice. This is to ensure the safety of passengers at all times.
  • South American Experience will book flights to/from Buenos Aires or Santiago and on to Ushuaia or Punta Arenas in conjunction with the adventure cruises as well as any hotels you may require on the mainland.
